Happy Summer Hair!

Well...the summer weather has arrived....this means fun in the sun. I am asked often "What to do with the chlorine and sun damage?"Well...first prevent. Especially if you color your hair-wear a hat while sunning and during those early morning walks. Did you know the sun is it's strongest in the early morning hours? Then because your hair is so porous (like a sponge)...wet it down in the shower area with clean water first...then get in the pool. Your hair is less likely to absorb the chlorinated pool water. If your hair appears damaged already, the sun and chlorine will only make it worse. Deep conditioners at the salon as well as a good moisturizer at home will help to heal your hair. Also, a toner to add back some of the lost color that causes a "brassy" look helps with the appearance. If your headed to a sun filled vacation spot this summer plan your color service when you get back home....the sun will really bleach out your new color and you will feel like you need it done again upon your return. Happy Summer/Happy Hair!
